The Ocean is Broken
The Ice caps have melted and all the worlds waste has floated to Greenland. In this end-of-the-world tale, two brothers, Piitaaraq and Aqqalu, sail their boat north, scavenging through mountains of trash, searching for food, supplies and signs of life.
Background: In 2014, Australian comic artist Sutu completed an artist in residence program at the Ilulissat Kunstmuseum in Greenland. During this time he collaborated with a Greenlandic family and other community members to create a unique story in response to growing concerns about global warming and the future of their young people. The story features live recordings from the area, original music composed by the Uummannaq children's orchestra.VIEW PROJECT
